sciandspirit aims to provide a resource and inspiration for
intelligent, spiritual people, and to create
a paradigm shift towards compassion and connection.

We explore connections between science & spirituality, and aim for 2012 as a tipping point in human evolution, drawing on the best the human spirit can offer. We have introductions to each topic on the site and a growing collection of articles on the blog, updated every two weeks. Find out how you can join in the paradigm shift.

A resource for intelligent, spiritual people

  • tailor-made info-packs on key concepts
  • reliably sourced info with references
  • interesting ideas and scientific models in context

Inspiration for intelligent, spiritual people

  • a community to be part of
  • a place to discuss, argue, and share ideas
  • impetus to evolve and promote humankind’s evolution

We aim to create a spirited debate – where spirited means vibrant, not negative. For a good argument, we have to enter it willing to be proven wrong. Otherwise, it's just a clash of egos, a stasis of positions. To do this, we have to detach our egos from our arguments. We have to keep a watchful eye for when we tip over into defending ourselves, not our ideas – to stop, breathe, release the build-up of agression – to be more interested in the ideas than in our own positions.

We aim to be part of a paradigm shift which is already taking place, to promote it, and to focus it on a specific date: 2012. This is a shift towards mutual compassion, love, and a respect for our connectedness. We believe goals work best when they have a time limit and that we don't have to wait for the world to change before we change our attitudes. When hatred and indifference become unacceptable to our worldview, the world around us will follow suit. We do not believe "it has ever been thus and ever will be": we believe people and societies change, have always changed, and continue to change.

Did you know? Your heart has its own brain. It communicates with your normal brain, not only with hormones, pulse waves, the nervous system, but also with electric impulses – how your head brain thinks. Your brain’s alpha wave activity – the waves you get when you're intently, effortlessly focused – is synchronized with your heart’s cycle.
